As a fifth-generation Montezuma County resident, I have deep roots in this community and a lifelong commitment to its future. I was born and raised in Mancos, graduated from Mancos High School and San Juan Vocational/Technical School, I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 38 years. I have two children and three precious grandchildren. My daughter and her family live here. I understand the culture, history, and priorities of this county because I have lived them. Over the past 28 years, I have helped run successful local multi-million-dollar businesses, 15 years coaching high school basketball, and 20 years of community service on several public boards all in Montezuma County. I spent 10 years in the semiconductor industry from 1989-1998, mostly at Intel, a Fortune 500 Company. A 22-year veteran of the Montezuma County Sheriff's Office, Tyson Cox has served in Detention, Patrol, Investigations, and as Undersheriff since 2023. With proven leadership and extensive experience investigating major crimes, he is committed to keeping Montezuma County safe.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather of six, he believes the county's greatest challenge is drug trafficking. As Sheriff, he will bring strong leadership, support for law enforcement, and a no-nonsense approach to protecting the community.
As Sheriff, his top priority is combating drug trafficking, which he believes is driving much of the crime in Montezuma County. He is committed to strong leadership, supporting deputies, and building a Sheriff's Office that earns the trust and pride of every citizen.

My name is James Wiley, known as the Red Flame of Liberty. I am a Colorado native, born in Colorado Springs, with a MBA from Colorado State University Pueblo. I grew up in Kazakhstan witnessing the fall out of the communist government in the former Soviet Union and the rise of capitalism. This ignited my lifelong passion for defending individual sovereignty, just government, and secure elections and fueled my activism against vulnerable electronic voting systems. Over the last 6 years my team and I have sued Dominion Voting Systems, Facebook, Mark Zuckerburg, the Secretary of States and Governors of Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, Secretary Griswold 5 times and my Democrat opponent Amanda Gonzalez, for their election misconduct. Jeff Hurd is a proud Colorado native who grew up in Grand Junction. His first job was bagging groceries at a local store—a small but formative role that shaped his appreciation for hard work and community. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Jeff earned law degrees from the University of Denver and Columbia Law School. He clerked for federal appeals court judge Timothy M. Tymkovich before practicing law at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York City.
But Colorado was always home. Jeff and his wife, Barbora, returned to western Colorado to raise their family more than a decade ago. He built a successful law practice serving rural communities, focusing primarily on rural electric cooperatives—the locally owned organizations that power much of Colorado’s Third District.
Now, as a U.S. Congressman, Jeff is honored to represent Colorado’s Third District, one of the most stunning and diverse regions in the country. From the rugged San Juan Mountains to the farms and ranches in the San Luis Valley, from Mesa County’s breathtaking public lands to Pueblo’s historic steel mill, the district embodies the best of the American West. Larry Don Suckla spent his childhood growing up on a remote ranch in Disappointment Valley. Spending his youth horseback learning the cattle business gave him the character and skills that he needed to succeed in the varied occupations he pursued. Larry Don now farms and ranches with his wife and two daughters, across four Colorado counties, Montezuma, Dolores, San Miguel and Montrose.
Life gave Larry Don an opportunity to study the processing of natural resources when he managed a copper chromium arsenic treatment plant in neighboring Arizona. He returned to Cortez where he found his talents in a landscape company. Through managing, working, and owning he has vast experience with renewable, living, non-renewable and fossil fuels. Most importantly, he knows that Colorado needs a strong advocate for Colorado Water.
In 2012, he was asked to run for Montezuma County Commissioner and served two terms, for a total of eight years. He diligently served the people, taking their confidence in him seriously. The people who elect him are those who he considers to be his boss, and he is there to represent them in all government matters. This led him to stand out among other elected officials, and he was voted to be leader in many roles during his time as Commissioner. In 2017 he was honored as the Colorado Commissioner of the Year. Sherri graduated from Cortez high school, received her BA from Ft Lewis and her MA in Secondary Education from Adams State. She has one son, one daughter, and four grandchildren and two great grandsons. Her children and two granddaughters graduated from Cortez.
Sherri previously served eight years on the RE-1 school board. After a four-year break, she was re-elected and term limited off in December 2023. While serving on the RE-1 school board, she served as a director for the Colorado Association of School Boards representing the District 12 boards. She also served on the San Juan Basin Technical College board, and was president of that board for five years.
Sherri is a retired teacher of 20 years. She taught 7th grade language arts in Cortez and 6th grade language arts in San Antonio, Texas. While teaching, she was the department head of the junior high and team leader of the middle school.
